Dennis Batey, M.D. joined Presbyterian Health Plan as President in November 2007.Dr. Batey has a distinguished record of service in leadership roles in health care, most recently as Chief Medical Officer for Fallon Community Health Plan (FCHP) in Worcester, Massachusetts. Prior to his role at FCHP, Dr. Batey was the President of the Preferred Health Network of Maryland. From 1989 to 1997 Dr. Batey held several positions with FHP International, including Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Utah and New Mexico operations. In addition to his years of experience as a physician executive, Dr. Batey has also practiced medicine in Alaska, both with the United States Public Health Service and in private practice. |
Charles (Chuck) Baumgart, MD, is originally from Iowa and attended the University of Iowa where he received his Medical Degree in 1981. He subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah in 1984. After nine years in private practice, he took a position with FHP of New Mexico in 1993. Along with continued practice of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, his position included the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine for the region. Continued active pursuits in the areas of continuous quality improvement and utilization management took him in 1997 to a position with Presbyterian Health Plan where his areas of expertise have included healthcare cost management through retrospective data analyses and interventions, focused case management programs based on use of a predictive modeling tool, medical director support for pharmacy management/benefit design, practitioner profiling, and the member appeal process. Dr. Baumgart is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Utilization and Quality Management, and he has received the CMCE (Certified Managed Care Executive) designation from AHIP (Americas Health Insurance Plans). |
Jana Burdick  Vice President, Chief Service Officer Jana Burdick has been employed by Presbyterian Health Plan since January 1986. During her years with Presbyterian, Ms. Burdick has served in management roles in a number of areas including Information Services, Claims, Member Services, Enrollment/Eligibility, and Finance. In October of 2009 she was promoted to Vice President and Chief Service Officer. In this role she has overall responsibility for member and provider satisfaction. |
Mary Eden Vice President, Government Programs  Mary Eden has been employed by Presbyterian Health Plan since 1992 and was promoted to Executive Director of Medicaid Programs in 1998. She has extensive knowledge of the unique attributes of Medicaid program operations and regulations, and was instrumental in the implementation of the SALUD! managed care program in 1997.In 2008, Ms. Eden was promoted to Vice President of Government Programs and now oversees both Medicaid and Medicare operations. She has worked in the New Mexico health care arena since 1981. Prior to employment at Presbyterian Health Plan, Ms. Eden served as the Medical Assistance Manager for the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she developed and implemented a comprehensive program that assisted the uninsured and under-insured in obtaining medical coverage though various entitlement programs, including Medicaid. She serves as an appointed member of the Medicaid Advisory Committee representing the SALUD! managed care organizations and is a Board Member of Safer New Mexico Now. |
Lisa Farrell joined Presbyterian in 2001 and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2006. Ms. Farrell has over ten years of experience in integrated health systems and has worked Prior to entering private industry, Ms. Farrell was an audit manager with Arthur Andersen where she specialized in healthcare and public stock offerings. Ms. Farrell is a Certified Public Accountant in New Mexico. |
Cesar Goulart is a seasoned Information Technology professional with over 20 years of experience planning, deploying, and managing IT solutions across multiple industries. With Presbyterian since 1994, he has had the opportunity to act in multiple roles and capacities, working with the Presbyterian Delivery System (including hospitals and the medical group) and Presbyterian Health Plan. In his current role since 2006, Cesar works with other Presbyterian senior managers, guiding the planning, development and support of information technology solutions for Presbyterian Health Plan. Prior to joining Presbyterian, Cesar was a project manager with a large beverage company in Brazil where he led custom software development projects.

 Neal SperoVice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Commercial Product Sales Neal Spero joined Presbyterian Health Plan in 2009, and is originally from Arizona where he graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Mathematics. He started his career as a sales executive and assistant actuary for BCBS of Arizona and went on to hold actuarial and marketing/sales leadership positions with BCBS of Utah, Wellmark BCBS of Iowa and United Healthcare of the Midwest, and shows a proven track record of success. Prior to coming to Presbyterian, he held several leadership positions with American Community in Michigan including Sr. Vice President responsible for the profit and loss of the Individual market segment. He oversaw the Sales, Underwriting, Product Development, Marketing, Administration and Actuarial functions. In 2007, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer with additional responsibilities in the small and large group lines of business. |
